:!: I have been using abyss for about 2 months now, I was a complete newbie. I still have problems from time to time and I can usually find the answers here. Which is Great! However, I wanted to make this post to help those that have the same problem I just had. I couldn't get my cgi to work for anything, I didnt know path to perl for the shebang line, or the scriptette used to retreive the cgi in an html. So here goes, Hope it helps!
I am using windows xp, so this may vary, Im not sure. :oops: but this is what I used.
This was used for a counter, which works great !

1. Shebang line, (top line in the cgi script itself incase ya didnt know) is:
#!C:\Perl\bin
This will vary if that's not where you have your perl, change that directory to where your perl is.

2. Script for Html:
<!--#exec cgi="/cgi-bin/MKCounter.cgi"-->

I have my cgi-bin in my abyss server folder, and the html page is in abyss server / htdocs. so I needed to put "../cgi-bin/MKCounter.cgi"

3. HTML file needs to be named with extension .shtml, .shtm, etc. It has to have the "S" before the rest to work.

I know all these things have been covered through out the posts, but none of them were together so I had to go through like 20 posts to finally find what I was looking for.

I hope this helped someone!!!

THANK YOU APRELIUM/ABYSS :D

Im sorry, the last post I made there was a typo...I said I needed to put the "../" before and I meant to say I thought I needed to, and I didnt.

Please disreguard the "I needed to" its "I thought I needed to, and I didn't"

HEHEHE
Me again
