|
|
Howdy, let me explain a little further. During maintenance times or during any server outage period whether due to abyss (unlikely) or your PC or router or ISP etc is it possible to have one domain name redirect to another, such as my server address http://westsyde.homeip.net which is a dynDNS.org DNS redirect of my ADSL static IP account, to my server status site http://westsyde.kol.co.nz which is a dynamic IP dialup account and which is hosted by them, unlike the former address which is power by abyss.
PS: My two ISP accounts are with two differant Internet Service Providers.
The kol address is a standard address and does not redirect via dynDNS.org.
Any suggestions are appreciated. |

I believe you can set an offline IP for dyndns. Not sure though. _________________

I have had a look into offline IP at dyndns, however i can't find anything about it, so i guess you may have seen it elsewhere.
Thanks anyway |

NO-IP.com allows this but you need to pay for it :-( _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

Thanks for the input. As it turns out I have discovered that it is really hard to find something when you are looking in the wrong place. lol.
Thought i wanted redirection when it apears i need monitoring, which unfortunatly costs $100-$150 USD and it may still leave you with an outage for 5-10 minutes approx.
Perhaps i should just give out my server status site URL as opposed to the server URL
