hey folks.. im really new to this.. i have so far installed abyss web servor and servor is running.. i have placed a test .html file in the htdocs folder. and i can see it perfect using the internal http://127.0.0.1 ip....
no when i use my actual ip it wont display anything... will just time out..
please help.. im really new to this |

If your running on a dialup connection its bound to be slow. :). _________________ int main() {

im running a wireless router.. so im sure thats got something to do with my problems |

If your connecting to localhost itll be lighting fast. Regardless of what connection you have. Proof? I have dail-up and I always use 127.0.0.1 to work on my site. Goes lighting fast. =).
And mobileplaza, you being on wireless shouldnt effect localhost. Look at your windows hosts file, an entry like this might be there 127.0.0.1 xxx.com or localhost xxx.com. Not sure exactly where its at Im sure if you search this forum youll find it. :D _________________

mobileplaza, check this page to troubleshoot the problem...

Also, the port your server is running on will have to be forwarded in your router configuration.
Find the router you're using on http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm and follow the instructions.
If your router isn't listed, post the make/model here and we'll figure it out together. |

yay! i got it sorted. thanx for the link to the router set ups.. fairly easy to follow..
no i need a bit more info..
i dont have a static ip. so i will need a dns rite?
& im woundering will phptriad work with abyss? i will need php and mysql |

Visit http://www.no-ip.com . They automatily changes the a record if you get a new IP. |
