I have php v5 up and running...I have no problems with phpMyAdmin and can administer my MySQL db without issues. I am also using phpMyEdit without issues...however Multi Form Generator will give the CGI/FastCGI error. Am I right that Abyss is not FastCGI ready? I see that others have had some issues with php-cgi.exe...Any plan in the near future to rectify this problem? I really do not want to revert to v4 php. |

Some scripts don't work on PHP v5 and some do , my GuestBook's help area no longer shows up when im using PHP v5 so chances are is that PHP v5 doesn't work with that certain PHP script , I use v4.3.9 , try PHP v4.3.9 before proving that the script does not work. Have A Nice Day!
Yes , FastCGI is not currently supported yet ! |

From Zend.com
Quote: | users should note that PHP 4 ships with a set of MySQL client libraries, which are activated by default; however, PHP 5 no longer bundles these libraries due to licensing issues, so you need to obtain, install and activate them yourself. |
Is that true for PHP5? Interesting to know? |

Can MySql be accessed without these client libraries. Or any other database?
Or how the client and database server communicate togeder - a protocol like http or what is the trick?
Just interesting to ask this. |

I had some problems with PHP scripts and PHP v5 so i would reccommend staying away from it until they fix all the bugs. Right now Im using PHP v4.9. _________________

Hi folks thanks for all the replies, under php v5 you have to edit the script to activate the libraries aswell as move specified dll's to your sys folder...so far I have had no problems other than D. Hockinsons MFG script...I believe that issue probably ties directly to fast cgi support in the abyss server...I have not tried it on Apache but Doug says his customers (apache server) have had very few problems if any...he worked with me for several days and I was greatful for the help. Because of the required amount of re-tweaking to revert to php v4 I have decided to wait for the php folks to issue a more bug free v. But as I have said...my v5 works for all the data that I'm working with...I have been looking for db form generators that have some GUI and appearance flexibility. So if anyone sees or knows of something out there feel free to respond. Again thanks everybody |
