Turn "register_globals" to "on" in your php.ini file and see if it works. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

I have followed all the instructions to install PHP,MySQL and PHPMyAdmin, but I get this error.
#1045 - Access denied for user: 'admin@localhost' (Using password: YES)
I have checked that my.ini and config.inc.php have the same user name and password. I have not yet set any restrictions in Abyss to these folders.
Any Ideas?

Don't install PHP 5 with MySQL 4.0.20d , use the new 4.1 if your going
to go ahead and use the new PHP 5.0.0 , this is due to using PHP 5.
PHP 4.3 and Up will get rid of this problem but using PHP 5
on the old MySQL's can cause problems , I advise you to
use a different PHP version like 4.3.6 or later *sigh* |

You can use MySQL with PHP 5 but you'll have to edit php.ini and to uncomment the line (remove the leading ; symbol):
Code: | ;extension=php_mysql.dll |

You must make sure you have the php_mysql.dll file in your PHP directory. If you don't, download the PHP ZIP, and unzip it into there. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

It is quite possible. Remove the "recommended" from php.ini-recommended and place it in C:\Windows. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

You probably have the path set wrong in the config.inc.php. Make sure it's set accordingly to where you have your phpMyAdmin located. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

Yes there is. ZPanel uses that feature of phpMyAdmin to do that, so I suggest you download ZPanel, and inspect how they do it. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

I got up to the bit where you set the username/password, i get the following error:
[1.20] I receive the error "cannot load MySQL extension, please check PHP Configuration".
To connect to a MySQL server, PHP needs a set of MySQL functions called "MySQL extension". This extension may be part of the PHP distribution (compiled-in), otherwise it needs to be loaded dynamically. Its name is probably mysql.so or php_mysql.dll. phpMyAdmin tried to load the extension but failed. |

I just dealt with this today so it just happens to be fresh on my mind. Did you set up the php.ini file and remove the semicolon from the front of extension=php_mysql? If not be sure to do that. And if you don't have the php_mysql.dll file extension? You can get it from [url=http://www.php.net]here[/b] (Under downloads, it's the source code zip for Windows). You don't need to unzip the whole file (I didn't anyways) but be sure to keep it in the /PHP/ dir not PHP/extensions or PHP/ext. This is what I did and it managed to work. |

i had the same problem as everyone here :)
the missing php_mysql.dll and the semicolon in the ini-file
now that is solved thanx to this tutorial i have still another prob
my server doesnt work on port 80 because my isp blocks that port ...
so i use another port and now when i enter phpmyadmin al appears correctly but all links and functions that refer to http://localhost dont work because for me it should be http://localhost:port/....
what can i do about that? |

Hello, I am a novice to this and I just got this consistent problem. Everytime I try to get to phpMyAdmin, everything seems fine, but it keep giving me this error:
Security Alert! The PHP CGI cannot be accessed directly.
This PHP CGI binary was compiled with force-cgi-redirect enabled. This means that a page will only be served up if the REDIRECT_STATUS CGI variable is set, e.g. via an Apache Action directive.
could someone help!!! |

Yap. "which php" yields "usr/bin/php". Interperter set to "usr/bin/php", associated extension = "php", auto update = "yes". CGI enviroment = "REDIRECT_STATUS", value = 200. And then I set up the alias.... |

I had a feeling that was it.....
open config_inc.php and look for:
$cfg['PmaAbsoluteUri'] = 'http://yourip/phpMyAdmin';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['host'] = 'ipofmyslqserver' ;
change them accordinally and save it, _________________

Okay, I did a really silly thing - I accidentally deleted all the users in the privileges section. Now everything is messed up because I used phpMyAdmin to install phpbb. Here's what I have now:
I can't create any new privileges or databases. I've tried deleting the phpMyAdmin folder and unzipping it into the scripts folder again but I'm still having the same problem.
Note: Everything was working fine before ... until I deleted all the users by accident. |

Mobrien,
PHPMYADMIN is a control panel for MYSQL, and php is just a scripting Type which the control panel works on, YOU NEED MYSQL installed
http://www.mysql.net
I suggest you visit this Site
http://www.trustabyss.com
go to the tutorials, and follow the Installation steps with pictures, it should be pretty basic, skip what you have done, double check, if you need any more help after you exhausted this site, please feel free to post here again, as im sortve busy at the moment doing specific stuff, take a look, also welcome to the forum..
idiosyncrasy,
go to the config inside the MYSQL Bin, delete the login/password set there, or set up your own manually. _________________

Right, I understand all that. I have scripted in perl, php, java, and written many c and c++ programs. I, however, have never used mySQL, or any database for that matter. I also am not familiar with any required libraries to implement MySQL in PHP.
I have an installed version of mySQL, it's the extensions it's claiming are not installed. That's supposed to be a part of PHP as far as I know. Also I noticed that it says "please check PHP configuration", not that this isn't a problem with the MySQL library, but I suspect it has something to do with the configuration of PHP, or the fact that i'm using PHP5.
Anybody? |

Wow, i feel stupid, the answer was already in the thread (didn't realize there was more than one page). Sorry for wasting everybody's time. I'm sure it'll work from here on out. By the way, the tutorials are great and you guys are definately on the ball with this admin script. I'm sure it'll be great for an SQL newbie like me.
Cheers. |
