I use MailEnable, the standard edition is free and you can host as many domains/email boxes as you wish. Only one drawback, the standard edition does not allow webmail, you must purchase the professional edition. For a reliable and secure email server you may want to give this one a try.

Argosoft mail server is one of many I have tried and found it to be well writen, uses less resources than the majority of them and has a webmail interface built in as well as allowing you to create userlists and mail lists and offer signups to mail lists.
As a relay it is very quick, I have mine setup to use SMTP and is routed through my main ISP email account, the server is in accordance with the ISP, the server uses the ISP email network to transfere the email on its remainder of its journey.
IT is not adviasble to have it set up as an open relay either or you may find that your ISP will either charge you for the clean up or cut your connection after blcak listing you as a spammer, something that most people dont understand, if your pop servers are open relays, then your only adding to the spam problem.
In all seriousness, unless your firewalled and have the added element of a router, running an email server will cause you no end of grief if your system is not secure and the server is not corectly configured. |

senshi,
Thats why i chose MailEnable, by default SMTP relay is closed. I have found MailEnable very light on system resources and relatively secure. I use MailEnable Standard at home and I use Professional at work. Thank you for the heads up on Argosoft, i will check them out. =) _________________ The-Hunter |

np, its pretty easy to work, has multiple domains and you can have a domainless email system, eg relating entirely to your website/server domain name.
Try it out, the trial version times out after 2 hours, plenty of time to play with and assess its use, a simple google should bring up the site. |
