and dont worry, i already read the sticky from inanimate, its just that i have comcast HSI, and it blocks port 80, and i dont have a router, just an ethernet card on my comp which is directly connected to my cable modem. does anyone know how i could work around this? if anyone does, i would be very gratefull.
thanks in advance |

Just change the port directly on Abyss to something that isn't port 80 - if your cable modem is simply a modem then you have no need to worry about port fowarding. If this doesn't work, check the manual for the cable modem to ensure it has no firewall, or post the model number here. |

Then you need to check your modem is a modem and not a router. What is the model name / number ? |

Now, are you remembering to append the port at the end of your URL?
If you change it to something like 8080, you need to type "http://yoururl.com:8080," not just "http://yoururl.com." _________________ Bienvenidos! |

I've seen the modems given from Comcast before. Just because he may be in a different area, I'll bet 99% they aren't router/modems. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

We got this sorted out.
It turns out that "http://soptame-central.comcast.net:8080" doesn't resolve to his IP address correctly, and so when typing in hisip:8080, it worked. _________________ Bienvenidos! |
