|
|
OK, I'm new at this Abysse Server thing. University student here who needs help as soon as possible. - anyone with any ideas?
Here is my problem:
I am running Win XP Home, and have downloaded the Abysse Web Server. Everything is running fine using port 1024.
I needed to download the ActiveHTML for the ASP support, when I do so everything installed correctly - but I cannot complete the adding ASP support as listed in this site:
http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/asp.html
The problem is - when I downloaded Abysse web server, it opened up into the browser showing me localhost which works great. BUT I do not get a page saying Abyss Web Server Console - therefore I cannot change any Server Configurations within Abysse.
Why is this - and how do I change it to make it work, I have downloaded and installed twice, but still getting no server console screen - and cannot change configurations.
anyone please help
also please send me step by step instructions

You need to first input your username and password for the console
by right clicking on the abyss icon and choosing "Show Console" than
you can configure everything for ASP once your done with that. |

Ok, when I right click on the Abyss icon on my task bar, and show Console, it directs me to the browser, where it is trying to view http://127.0.0.1:1024
but says page cannot be displayed. (using Port 1024)
What's wrong and how do I correct this? |

Thank you so much, yes that works!
Another slight difficulty though:
How do I bring up my asp pages?
they are located in:
C:\Program Files\Abyss web server/htdoc/K_Orman/
or in order to bring them up with Active HTML, should they be somewhere else? ie: C:\Program Files\ActiveHTML\AHTML\........ in here?
Using http://localhost:1024 I can now bring up the console screen, but cannot access my pages.
Help again.... |

Question 1: To access them, go to "http://localhost/K_Orman/filename.asp" in your browser.
Question 2: Abyss uses two ports: a console port, and a normal web serving port. You need to see what normal web serving port you are using. By default, it is port 80. If you don't remember changing anything, then that's what it is. Check in the Abyss program window to see:
That uses the default port 80.
If you see something like:
Then your web server is running on port 85. Just go to "localhost:85" or the corresponding port number to visit your website. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

Thank you for your reply. One last quick question.... Where do I put my files then to bring up using localhost?
c:\program files\abyss web server\htdoc ?????
Or ???
Anyone with any help, much appreciated.
I have already loaded the active html ASP server support, so do files need to be elsewhere or above ok?
Thank You

All website files go in your "htdocs" directory. |
