For 1gb files using a script is not a good way to go.

You would probably need a ftp server like:

http://www.bpftpserver.com/

or

http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/

masa,

If you want to made your own script, search for "upload script" in the PHP section of this forum and you'll find some simple examples (there is at least one example that we gave.)

For a ready-to-run script, we recommend WebFileBrowser (http://www.webfilebrowser.org/).

If you're using PHP, you'll have to edit PHP.ini and to increase the value of upload_max_filesize. Since uploading big files can take a long time, you'll have to increase also the value of max_input_time.
