Hi everybody,

I finished most of the instructions that the fourms has provided. I just have a question after i finished registering at No-IP for Port 80 Redirection. At my main account menu, it says my site's address is -

calibre.no-ip.info

Should the "info" be replaced with ".com"? I tried that and that still doesn't work *on my network*.

Sorry' i'm a noob at this program -.-

PLEASE ASSIST! thanks.

No, it shouldn't be replaced.
When you chose your URL when signing up, you chose the domain "no-ip.info" which is different than "no-ip.com." If you want .com, you need to register a new URL with them, and making sure you choose the .com extention.

ooh, i see

But the site : calibre.no-ip.info : doesn't work outside my network. I asked a bunch of people to visit that link without any success. Plus i've already configured my Link's DSL/Cable router to foward my IP Address.
I am using Windows Xp Home with NO firewall installed. Any Ideas??

THanks for your time =]

26. Security: See Acceptable Use Policy.

(a) Cablevision reserves the right to protect the integrity of its network and resources by any means it deems appropriate. This includes but is not limited to: port blocking, e-mail virus scanning, denying e-mail from certain domains, and putting limits on bandwidth and e-mail.

try using a different port

You said you were using Port 80 Redirect by No-IP. So just change your port on Abyss, and then append it to your IP in No-IP.

That easy.

Yea, i've done that too. Let me restate exacty what i did. Perhaps i messed up the part where you have to "Foward" the Ports. Basically, i can view the page - http://calibre.no-ip.info - from every computer in my network. However. nobody else outside the network can view it *except just for that title bar*. So i assume the problem lies in the configuration of the router. Here's what i did:

1.) I typed in 192.168.1.1 and entered UserName/Pwd for my linksys dsl/cable router.

2.) Click on the Advanced Tab and then clicked on the "Fowarding" tab.

3.) Reconfigured the Port range from 80 - 81 and used TCP Protcol. The Ip Address is set as 192.168.1.*** which is exacty the same number that is found in the command "Ipconfig/all".

*4.) I dont know if i should do that, but i did it anyway. I pressed "Port Tiggering and filled in the Trigger Port Range & Incoming Port Range to 80 - 81.

5.) Save all Changes and exited.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for No-IP:

1.) Host Type = Port 80 Redirect

2.) IP Address is the one i used from - http://www.whatismyipaddress.com/

3.) And selected Port 80 (The same port assigned for Abyss Web Server)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can somebody tell me why other people can't see my website? Is it because I configured my router incorrectly? Thanks For your time.

You did everything right; but since your ISP blocks port 80, we're going to make some changes.

First, you can get rid of the Port Triggering settings.
Second, go into the Abyss console, and change the default port number for your website to 81.
Third, go into No-IP, and change the original port it was set on (port 80), to port 81.

Everything should work after that.

can somebody visit the link

http://calibre.no-ip.info/

...and please reply if you see anything? Hopefully it should say something like

"THE FOLLOWING IS A TESTING. SUCCESS MEANS YOU CAN SEE THESE WORDS."

Thanks

No, it didn't work. However I think I know the problem. The IP you entered was "http://24.191.214.5 :81" which shouldn't have a space.

Hosts / Redirects
No-IP Free Domains
Host: IP / URL Action:
no-ip.info
calibre.no-ip.info 24.191.214.5:81 Modify | Stats | Delete

WC = Wildcard

That's exacty how its shown. If there was a mistake with the typo, it should be fixed now.
---------------------

Try both URLs -

http://24.191.214.5:81/

and

http://calibre.no-ip.info

They both work for every computer on my network.
