If you've checked everything else...

...maybe your ISP is blocking Port 80.

Set up 2 Hosts on no-ip.com (or whatever you use).

mydomain.no-ip.com IP/URL: xx.xx.xx.xx (use their Dynamic DNS Update Client if necessary).

webdomain.no-ip.com IP/URL: mydomain.no-ip.com:1234 (ie. change the port number).

Map your router's External Port 1234 to Internal Port 80.

Or open Port 1234, and set your Abyss webserver to Port 1234.

Now try to view webdomain.no-ip.com in your browser. This should work.

Does your router setup have a virtual servers screen (or similar-its a screen with a heap of port names eg http, ftp imap etc with port numbers eg 80, 25 etc. There are fields that you can then fill in eg 192.168.1.[blank])??(Hope this makes sense!!)
If so, you have to map port 80 (or what ever port you are using in your abyss setup) to the IP (192.168.1.x) of your server machine.....

try setting your servers IP (192.168.1.x) to something outside of the normal range (eg 192.168.1.30) so it doesnt dynamically "reset" itself each time you power up your machine (which means you have to remap your servers IP each time you reset the machine....

Double check that port 80 is open by ping
Hope this helps
Tristan

D-Link does have a Virtual Server page. Look at my tutorial again just to make sure you didn't botch things up.

Also, call your ISP to check on port blocking.

NOTE: D-Link Products do not support loopback. If you type in your external IP from a local computer, it won't work.

Well from the information I am given (which is nothing), it looks right. I can't say for sure, because you blacked out the value, and I don't know your internal IP. The only other problem would be your ISP blocking port 80.

Giving someone your internal IP doesn't pose a security threat...

It's quite alright.

Who is your ISP?

PS: 127.0.0.1 and localhost are the same thing.

I'll be persistant on this: it is most likely the ISP and not the connection/configuration. When it comes to port forwarding, there really isn't anywhere you can go wrong. Get your internal IP (ipconfig), and enter it into your router, and presto.

They have no where on their TOS that they block port 80, but call them to make sure they don't.

If they do, then change your server port on the Abyss console.

I tried changeing the port in my Router and Abyss to 8080 and it didn't work aswell. I asked a friend to try and connect. He got Page Cannot be displayed....

I really don't understand why it dosen't work, I've done everything suggested. I have no firewalls (which is prob bad with adsl but, meh, if my computer dies, an excuse to get a better one lol) and nothing to stop it from working...

Change it to a random number (392...?) because ISPs are known to block 8080 also.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been working hard on things.

Useing a random port didn't work aswell. Port-Forwarding also dosen't work when i try and play games. I e'mail Eftel Support, They gave me everything, Right down to a video with sound on how to port-forward. I used plenty of random ports
107, 80, 8080, 512, 48, 256
none of them proved successful.... So this has me completely buggered lol.

I'll try and give you the complete setup and see if it gives and light.

Netcom ADSL Router is plugged into the D-Link 10/100 hub.

Both Desktop Computers are plugged into D-Link Hub.

The ADSL router was configured on the other computer, and i'm trying to run Abyss on this one (ADSL was config'd on a diff comp then server)

Server Comps Inturnal IP - 192.168.1.6
Other Comp - 192.168.1.10

I've also tried useing port 107 under the IP 192.166.1.10

Thats my attempt so far. I also tried Apachie Web Server for a while and had no luck with it. (and i dislike it 0.0)

Hope this has shed a little light at leaste. Coz i'm close to takeing a hacksaw to this computer and the other gets a hammer.

That seems pretty odd. Did you try the external IP from another computer, as I said earlier, some routers don't support loopback?

Also, some routers have a built-in firewall tool. Check it to see if the firewall is blocking something like "Block *.*.*.* to 192.168.1.* Incoming."

(I know that D-Link routers have firewalls, so that is why I ask).

Look around for a menu option such as "Firewall" or something similar. I can only hope that there are different access rules that can be edited/deleted. Look for one that would prevent someone from accessing the server.

I have a Netcom NB1300 router.
The hub is a d-link.

and i don't see anything that has anything about a Firewall.

You have both a hub and a router?

One would think that you needed to configure port forwarding for both of them, although I don't think you can do that with hubs.

A hub is a passive device that repeats traffic on all its ports - there would be absolutely no need to configure 'port forwarding' on it :o

Port Forwarding | didn't work
Port Forwarding on other Computer | Didn't work
No Firewalls at all

The only thing i can think of being the problem is the hub. I'm going to try putting the modem into my computer directally and seeing if that works...

(Nope that didn't work either, But when i typed my exturnal IP into my own address bar i got my router setup page... And my friend got Page Can't Be Displayed)

You will always get your router/modem setup page when you type your external IP from behind the router/modem. Most routers cannot handle loopback traffic - this has now been mentioned several times in this thread. To explain again : When you send out a request to your router which is for the same IP the router has, *it cannot handle forwarding the traffic straight back onto your machine*. You need to use your LAN IP to view your website from behind the router.

If your friend gets page cannot be displayed, you still haven't set up port forwarding/virtual servers properly.
