That is crazy!
I sent them a letter with a link to Aprelium's website, and an excerpt from Aprelium's legal page:
"Aprelium and The Aprelium logo are registered trademarks and Abyss Web Server is a trademark of Aprelium Technologies."
It's ironic that the guy on the sourceforge page says:
"ABYSS Web Server is licensed under a modified BSD type license:
Copyright © 2000 Moez Mahfoudh. All rights reserved. " _________________ Bienvenidos! |

I don't have a box right now I can compile it on, so I wasn't able to use it.
Ironically that has the SAME EXACT name ("pwrabyss") that Aprelium's had.
Should I use his image now instead of yours, Aprelium! :D
Don't worry, I still fully support Aprelium and their webserver. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

Boy do I feel like an idiot. It's all your fault nquin! :D (No it's not, but oh well...)
TRUSTpunk: How do you compile on Windows? Easy: Get Linux! (Just kidding). There are many third-party applications you can get. There is the Microsoft one, Visual C++, or there are programs like these. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

He asked how you thought you were going to compile a linux program on Windows. You won't get far with MS VC++ |

Well I never said they would work... :D
You can compile any programs for any platforms you want using any compiler; but Linux programs work for Linux, and Windows is for Windows (and then there's WINE). _________________ Bienvenidos! |

That's cool! A little bit of history behind the project. Aprelium (or Moez?), could you leave the site up or at least zip the files for history's sake? Speaking of which, perhaps this would be a good opportunity to document the development of a web server. Without divulging proprietary info, would you guys be willing to do that?

Last time I checked, VC++ will not compile Linux code into Linux binaries... 8) |

http://abyss.sourceforge.net is the home of the ancestor of Abyss Web Server X1.
The open source version of Abyss Web Server is still used by many people and in many projects (such as http://xmlrpc-c.sourceforge.net/). Some professors reported that they use it in networking courses.
The open source version is a very basic server with limited features and security. But it is good to understand how a web server works.
By the way, the code there can be compiled on Windows (needs one or two minor fixes depending on your compiler). _________________ Support Team

Well you can always learn C++, et cetera first (if you already don't know it). Then you can narrow your perspective to internet-based applications.
The "For Dummies" books are always good. _________________ Bienvenidos! |
