Is anyone running Abyss Web Server on Microsoft Server 2003. I am having some file permission problems, can anyone help me out?

I am having problems with script. I am running e107 and when I try and upload files/pics using the file manager in e107 it gives me this error:

The file did not upload. Filename: 'image.jpg' - Error: Probably incorrect permissions on upload directory.

It has the same problem with Windows XP Home and Pro. I have noticed that all of the file folders and files in the entire C:\ have the "Read Only" attribute set. I have tried everything to remove it and it keeps coming back. Any suggestions?

I run my website using Windows Server 2003. Although I haven't had any permission problems, may I suggest a couple things:

1) Log in with Administrator or someone in the "Administrators" group
2) Again, try to unset the "Read-Only" attribute. If that does not work, try to unset it in safe mode.
3) After right clicking on the folder that the files get uploaded to, go into the "Security" tab. Make sure that the "Everyone" group has permissions to write to the folder.

If that doesn't work, then I cannot think of anything else. Just try to mess around with it. Also, try another program to upload files, or get an FTP.

I have tried safe mode in Windows XP Home ... and it did not work. I will give it a try on Server 2003 later tomorrow.

Its just like an FTP, i remember.

the main folder, the c drive, has the attribute set, so no matter how hard you try you will never remove it unless you remove it from the main folder all together.

Just like in an FTP, if the group "GTP" has a path to a certain folder, all of thew users in the group have a path to that folder also. Everytime you try to remove the path from the user, it comes back, thats why you remove it from the group.

Just another windows "feature". ^^;

Thank you for the heads up ... but one problem, how do you get to the security settings in Windows XP Home. By default they are not displayed and I have checked everywhere (including Microsoft Support) trying to figure out how to get access to it.

To access the security tab in Windows XP Home, you need to do it in Safe Mode; (saw that one on TechTV :D ).

F@#K!! That did not work either ... it is still coming back as read only on all of the drives. I think it may be time to go back to Win2K. Do you have any other ideas??

I tried the Microsoft fixes ... well it works great for the files ... but it does not work on the folders, and my whole problem lies around the folders. :( I guess its back to the drawing board.
