User Authentication scripts?

I was hoping someone could show me a script that will take a username and password (I need multiple users/passwords) and take that user to a specific page based on that login (not the same page for everyone!)

The ones I have found so far don't work that well or the passwords are in the source code for anyone to see ... I need something secure.

I'm sure www.hotscripts.com has a few pre-made user authentication scripts.
