Hi ,
I'm running into problems when accessing my site FROM SERVER which is behind Netgear MR814 router. Since i have 5 static IPs from my ISP i'm not using router on my 2nd computer and i can access server with no problem at all ( and from work ) but when i'm trying to connect to http://127.0.0.1/forum ( or anything else for that matter ) it says page doesnt exist. But when i go to my 2nd computer and type in my IP (66.36.17.19) or domain (www.vladik1.com) i'm able to see web site without a hitch.
What could be the problem here ? Port 80 is obviously forwarded since i can access web server from outside but something is restricting me locally (either router or something i dont know ....)
THanks !
(by the way i did my search here , but all posts posted here seemed to have similiar problem but other way around , (ie seeing website localy but not able to see web site form internet)
It's really wierd that i can access my site from anywhere but not from computer itself :-) |

if you have a pop up blocker that could be the problem
check your host file with notepad (if your on windows C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\)
should have
127.0.0.1 localhost |

Thankd for reply.
No i dont have pop up blocker.
+ here's my host file , i think it's the way it's suppoused to be
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost
so it seems neither one is causing the problem.....
Thanks anyways , i'm gonna go and continue banging my head against the wall ... this is getting absurd. |
