We recommand using graphical counters. These can be inserted as regular images in the HTML code without using SSI.

It depends on the scripting language you are using. We do not have a particular recommendation, it depends on what you need. The choice is huge. Just search 'CGI counter' in google for example :D

Hi I've found the way to get the "textcounter" from
http://www.scriptarchive.com/
to work in Abyss Win32.. :D

The "$data_dir" should contend the win path in this format "C:/dir/subdir/datadir" and so on...
And the user CGI Environment should hold "DOCUMENT_URI = file.shtml"
Where "file.shtml" is the html file you call the script from.
And you can run only one counter...... :(

Very cool tormod!

I am saving that info in case I ever want to use something different.

bhorst, if you are interested, I am using a text counter called "total.cgi" by Benjamin Leow, which is an add-on to the AXS Tracking System from Fluid Dynamics Software ( http://www.xav.com/ ).

The AXS tracking system is a very cool page-hit tracker which yields lots of useful info for people trying to find what is being used and visited and flow through their site. It can also track file downloads and off-site links followed.

The *total.cgi* script, though, does something very interesting. It can display all the hits from all your pages onto the single text counter.

It does require a tag like:
<!--#exec cgi="/axs/total.cgi"--> into the ssi allowed page you wish the counter to appear on. (I am running this line on my index.html page)

If your interested you can download the source code from my site here:
http://sixa.no-ip.info/total.cgi (You may need to change the shebang line.

You can also see it in 'action' here:
http://sixa.no-ip.info/

Regards,
Axis
