Anyone have any suggestions on setting up abyss to my belkin router?
I have to computers on it using abyss on one computer and I can't get my web page outside of my network. Also I have a computer on it's own cable modem and it works fine. So it has to be a IP problem. 192.168.... works in my network but nowhere else any suggestion would be very much appreciated. Thanks. |

Belkin routers will not allow you to use your cable-modem's IP address from within your network to the webserver, also within your network. Try accessing from a computer not linked to your blkin router. Within your network, just use the 192.168.xxx.xxx address to view it, test, abuse it...It will work, since i did this a few months ago and the site is live.

Aah man, that suck big for Belkin. If it true, the I will stay away from it. Very inconvience in this case. As a residential broadband (DSL / Cable), the ISP normally give is one IP unless you order more. Without this loopback support from the Router, then it is differcult to test thing. The only other option is:
1. Get a friend to test it and s/he need to sit there and wait for you.
2. Take advantage of AOL offer to test it, if you still have a modem somewhere on the shelf. Note: Look for AOL offer that indicate do not need your credit card to try.
3. Get another cheap Router like Linksys / D-Link / NetGear.
4. Bother Belkin support if there a firmware to update for this loopback feature. _________________ CapFusion,... |

Can not really say they are the #1 but they are one of the best choice in this level.
1. Price
2. Simple
3. Less of a hassle
4. Most compatible _________________ CapFusion,... |

Check out the configuration info at this site:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/j.buchanan/index.html?routers-belkin-4port.html
Merely set the appropriate port and IP address for the computer hosting Abyss.

Very nice link. And thank for that info.
General idea for any router should be the same. _________________ CapFusion,... |

My Belkin router took a crap on me yesterday and died for no apparent reason: latency went to 60Bytes / second and then timed out. I replaced it with a NetGear 802.11b. The Belkin was a replacement for my original Belkin that I had to return a week after I bough it because it shorted itself...The NetGear interface is alot better, too!

Sorry to hear you have so much problem with your Belkin. Hopefully, your wireless work for you.
On side-note -
The 11B seem to be old version. _________________ CapFusion,... |
