I am currently under construction of serval programs. And Im going to need some beta testers. The programs will be made aviable to windows OS (at least for the time being). The programs will mostly be servers. A couple of them include a MUD server(an unstarted project), an IM server, and a telnet server(non RFC, but I am thinking of making one that is). It is peferred that you have at least used those programs before (but the IM server), and have a somewhat knowladgeable with computers.

Post if your intrested or have any questions :).

P.S. Aprelium, I hope you wont be mad if I steal a couple of your members for awhile :P, And If you don't like this thread you can delete it.

Why should we get mad? :-) This board is open for all as long as they do not spam or post hate/rude messages.

It would be great if you could post more information about your projects and news about testing.

Soon, hopefully, it will be :)

And Im glad everyone wants to help. So far I've only been able to release a (very beta) version of a telnet server, and a IM server. You can donwload the servers from http://www.serversoft.us.to . I know the site design is horrable, but I just needed something to get the programs up. The NewAge setup may have a file missing Im working on that as we speak. Let me know what you guys think :).

I need to get a manual up for everything, but for both you can use telnet. Just telnet to the port you specify inside the program, the command for the servers are similar to most other servers. To login type user username then pass password. There are defualt logins setup until I can create a user setup program. For the IM server the username is test and the password is noenc. For the telnet server the default username is admin and the password is admin.

I did an ops in the installers. The installers installed the winsock library (if you didn't allready have them) then on uninstallition it removes them. I figured out to keep it on uninstall. If you have problems with some internet programs after you uninstall my program, blame that one on me. I will fix that before I goto sleep, hopefully :(.

Edit: Fixed :).

I have just finshed the first offical release of NewAge IM Server.

Grab it now while its hot XD.

http://www.serversoft.us.to/newage/download.php

And whoever downloads it let me know what you think. Im going to start to put together a readme and some tutorials for it.

Unforuntally, linux users wont be able to enjoy NewAge for awhile. :\

I got this to work , it appears that you need to first change the port in NewAge
from 80 to another. This uses the same port as Abyss , change the server port
and you should be fine , the server works for me. Glad I can help!

Edit: You can't add Users , you can't save the settings and last but not
least. I wasn't able to connect to the server on a port other than 80. :/

Sincerely , TRUSTpunk

Err, shouldve put the user layout. in the app directory theres a folder labeled users and in there you should 2 users test and admin. Those are the usernames. (You can create a new username by adding a folder name). And inside those folders theres 2 files pass.txt and list.txt . pass.txt is the password. list.txt is the buddy list. Really need to get the documenation out for this ><'. And yeah that was my goof, I put the default port to 80, next version its going to be like 115 or something.
so its like this
\users\{username}\pass.txt = password
\users\{username}\list.txt = buddy list

So after you start the server on port 81 (or anyother port besides 80). Load the client type admin and admin for username/password. Then click on options and fill in the server info. Then click on signon. If you have a wrong password it should tell you (ugh I need sleep I put me instead of you :(). I tested this throughly on 2 computers I have at my house. It should work fine for basic IM'ing. More to come in the next versions, like colors XD, and encrypted passwords. :).

O_O I just installed NewAge onto my computer using the installers and Its not working. Ugh, it was working eariler ><.

Edit: Got the fix up, in order for the client to keep your settings you have to keep the options window up (This will be fixed in a later version).

You can download the new versions here:
Server: http://www.serversoft.us.to/newage/downloads/serversetupv1f.exe
Client: http://www.serversoft.us.to/newage/downloads/clientsetupv1f.exe

Let me know if theres anymore problems. :)

Before I try it - I want a little more info. What exactly does it do? (Besides the obvious/already told on your site or here)

So you want the exact science behind it eh? Sure, when you start the server application itll listen on the port you specify for any connections, and if a connection does come in itll wait for the user/pass combo so it can check against the records that are on your HD.

The client will send commands to the server, that you specify, (in which I will release exctally how It does it soon) to log it in. After that whenever you send an IM itll send the data to the server telling you who you want to IM. Although, it may not be perfect and itll have it share of bugs, its a very good start. Seeing as I did this all from hand. I didn't take another person's source code and say its mine. :).

I fixed everything, (hopefully), in these versions and it should work for basic IM'ing.

In the next version Im going to have an option to send stats to my server (itll be 100% optional and off by default) to tell me how many people will be using it.

New version of both IM server and client.
New feautures of server include:
- Only allows one connection per IP
- Connections list now work
- Fixed the kick button
- Added a loged in users list

Going to add info for users soon.

I also installed mambo so itll be easier for me to publish it :).
Im going to start work on an client SDK so people can make their own clients.

From now on you can check for file updates here.

P.S. Do you guys think I should start a new thread? o.o
