|

(This is slightly off topic, but I can't figure out a better place to ask.) I've been running Abyss quite well for a almost two years now. I recently changed from using port 80 to 5000, because it appeared to me that RoadRunner (RR) was doing funny things with my dynamic IP, e.g., switching between two IPs every few hours or something. In any eventl, as part of this change to 5000, I added a WebForward to my ZoneEdit account, using ww2...; see attached screenshot. (I never had my own mail server; I've always just used ZoneEdit for mail redirection to my RR account, and for DNS purposes because of my dynamic IP.)
It was recently pointed out to me that I have a recent problem. When I send mail, somewhere along the line this gets added:
To: "www.billanddot.com" <bill@billanddot.com>
That is, somehow bill@billanddot.com gets translated to www.billanddot.com. This makes replying weird, because www.billanddot.com is not a properly formed email address, of course.
This seems to have started in the last few days, which is around the same time that I started using ZE's WebForward for my www-to-ww2 change-port purposes (which incidentally seems to have stopped RR from playing games with my IP). Unfortunately, I'm not certain that this is the cause of this problem, because a couple of days ago I also had to use a restore point (WinXP) because I had some personal problems with my PC.
If anyone knows what I'm talking about, that will make me feel better, at least. If anyone can help me out, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

wspollack,
Try using another email client to check if it isn't your local applications setup who is causing that to happen. _________________ Support Team

Aprelium,
Thanks for the suggestion. I followed through, and replaced Outlook Express with iscribe as my client, tested it, and no problem. Then, I went back into OE, and (eventually!) found out that that I had an address-book entry for my email address, with a return address of www... (and I don't know how that got in there).
In any event, based on your suggestion I was able to fix this. Thanks very much for your time and help.
Regards,
Bill |
