Probably more on the manufacturers website. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

I did ask him/her the make/model of the router but I didn't get a reply. I think they forgot because I have been chatting to them since.
I think this is it (after a little googleing): http://www.digitus.info/scripts/digdetail.asp?artnr=DN%2D11004%2DN
So you think it will be OK then?

Close, but no cigar. Your digitus link is to a router similar to the Ebuyer link I posted. It has a USB print server included. Look at the back panel of the router in your ebay auction - no USB connections. The front is also different in terms of logo placement etc. Yours seems to be a generic router which is rebranded by multiple vendors - the closest I've found to it is the Fontel AMR4. Front panel isn't right but the back panel is.
www.fontel.com/manuals/amr4.pdf
If you google some of the phrases found in the auction description, you'll find a set of 4 port routers from different vendors, all with *exactly* the same basic blurb in the instruction manual but their own personalisation on menus etc.
You can't really go wrong with a router, but personally, I wouldn't have bought one on the little amount of information in the auction and from a seller who doesn't bother getting back to you. You've ended up with a 2nd hand router with less features than a brand new one costing less! :( _________________

I understand what your saying, but I personally don't understand routers and what features are good/bad or prices etc. This was one of the cheapest on ebay, looked good so I bought it. As long as I can share the internet with my other computers Im not too worried about extra features etc. Thanks for your input though Anonymoose! Maybe my next purchase will be a little less inpulse LOL As for the contact with the seller, they have been brilliant, I just think they forgot about my question... Should be here tomorrow or Thursday so Ill keep you up to date.
Thank You once again,
Regards,

Don't get me wrong, I certainly don't think you'll have any problems with it. All routers will do pretty much what it says on the tin, any extra features are a bonus. Sounds like that one has plenty of bits and pieces to play with - my DSL modem/router combo is also cheap and cheerful generic model. The menu's are quite... ahem... interesting, and the manual is in Engrish, but I've never had any actual difficulties. Enjoy your new toy! _________________

Just came today in the post :-) Looking at the make and model number on the back of the router I found it doing a google search.
Mentor/ADSL FR-4
Havn't had chance to play with it yet as I havn't quite finished building my other PC's so I'll let you know how I get on with it when I'm finished later tonight.
Cheers,

Everything is fine, router works OK!!
Just can't use it with my other computers for a while.... thought I'd use the cable I used for my previous P2P computer connection, 20m Cat5e Crossover. Thing is... I need Straight Through, forgot about that one...LOL
I think there is a way of converting Crossover to Straight Through but decided I havn't got the confidence to even Google it ;-)
Should have enough money for the cable/s next week.... Iv'e already over spent on my other new computers...LOL
Regards,

There is a way to do it, its just 2 wires that need changing over, I cant remember which ones they are though.
Dont be afraid of google, it comes in handy ;-) _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

It's getting the RJ-45 connector back on the end of the cable that worries me.... seems really really fiddly!
I believe you need the right tools for doing this? I don't really know what to do, wether to give it a try or not.
I might have a go later or tomorrow...
P.S.

Well... just split the outer casing of the cable somewhere. They are all color coded throughout the cable anyway so it shouldnt be hard to find out which ones.
Use a sharp stanly knife or something and make a little **light** slit in the cable and then prise it open with your fingers.
Ill try and see which colors it is that you have to change by looking at mine. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

OK, in my cable it is orange and green.
This might not be the same for all cables but it *shouldnt* do any damage trying but dont hold me to that ;-) _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

It's 4 wires, not 2. The other 4 wires aren't used anyway.
When I wire them up at work, I usually do light orange, orange, light green, blue, light blue, green, light brown, brown (T568B) both ends for normal cat5. One end of your crossover will probably already be that combination, it's only one of the two ends that gets switched to make a crossover. The end that doesn't match the above pattern is the end that needs modifying back to match it.
You'll need a proper crimping tool to refit an RJ45 plug, if you want any decent use out of the cable. I haven't had any luck reusing plugs from cables before. _________________

Sorted the router and the cable out now :-)
I did have to swap wires around but I made sure I they were the right ones first! I had to change four wires around in the end.
Everything is working brilliant appart from having reset the modem every now and again, for some reason I get "Limited Or No Connectivity" message and can't access the Internet or the LAN but it's fine once I've reset the modem! (Strange...You would have thought it would be the router needing the reset)
Thanks for your help Anonymoose and The Inquisitor,
