gettext install help

I'm trying to install gallery2 and would like to know how to install gettext. Could anyone either help me or put me in the right direction for a good tutorial on this.

Is gettext a php extension? If so you can probably activate it in php.ini, if not search google.

Are the files you're after. Ive never used it and cant be bothered to read up on it further, but thayre the win32 ports of it, the unix ones should be easy enough to google.
