Oh for gods sake. Take a hint. You are asking basic questions that have been asked over and over again. USE THE SEARCH BUTTON. You're not a one time newbie poster, you should know better.

I did use the search button
I searched for "php editor' and got over 2000 replies. Seeing that I have work to do, I didn't have time to go through each and every one. |

FYI - When making a search with multiple words, use AND between words.
Example= php AND editor
(I got 52 results with the above search phrase) |

Well, since you've given this topic a title that will be easily found by others searching for a PHP editor, here's a few ideas for future reference.
Context
Crimson Editor
EvolvEd
NotePad++
PsPad
Syn
They are all totally free, have extensive support for PHP context highlighting and have a variety of extra features which differentiate them.
http://www.context.cx/
http://www.crimsoneditor.com/
http://home.no/evolved/
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/
http://www.pspad.com/
http://syn.sourceforge.net/
My personal preference/recommendation would be EvolvEd - it has automatic function help for pretty much all PHP functions - shows you the expected inputs to a function etc, a hex editor and decent regex support.
http://home.no/evolved/features.html
PSPad has some nice find/replace in all files type features.
I'll let you go through the feature lists of the others yourself and see what takes your fancy. Report back so that others who find this topic get some more ideas...[/list] |

Came across this the other day if anyone else stumbles across this topic when actually using the search button. Looks good, but I think I'll be sticking with Evolved through habit...

But it doesn't support syntax highlighting :|. Try staring at lines and lines of black and white C syntax. _________________

Aprelium, can you please get rid of p3? We all hate him. I've talked to other forum-members on MSN, and they hate him aswell. |

Really??? It seems p3 is only guilty of being ignorant, naive and bragging of non-existent programming skills.
But YOU, cmxflash, have broken almost every rule this forum requests of it's members. You have been abusive,
vulgar, hateful and even threatening. (remember the kill hippies thread?)
I, for one, wouldn't mind if Aprelium banned you as well!!! |

He doesn't need syntax highlighting, he wants a PHP editor and I don't expect him to know how to code a forum, :-\ |

This war between cmxflash, p3, and some other forum members is tiring. Please remember that this is a technical forum and not a school's backyard. If you do not like a member or think his/her questions are not "smart" enough, please move to another message and do not comment. Sometimes no answer is better than a rude one.

Thank you, Aprelium.
Back on topic - Here's a free program that I played around with a few weeks ago...
Quote: | PHP Designer 2005
PHP Designer 2005 (formerly MPS PHP Designer) is an editing environment, specialized for PHP coders. It offers syntax highlighting and an extended code library for PHP, HTML and SQL as well as file browser, built-in FTP, project support and more. The strongest feature is the large number of ready-to-insert functions, that are available for database queries, FTP, file system and many other uses, as well as a full library of PHP resources. A built-in Task Manager allows you to maintain a Todo list of scripts that you are working on. Even though it lacks support for execution and preview of PHP scripts (unless you have a web server installed), the program provides a comfortable environment with many time saving features.
PHP Designer 2005 may be used for FREE for both private and commercial use. | More info, screenshots and download at http://www.mpsoftware.dk/phpdesigner.php |

I agree 100% Aprelium.
Moxxnixx (sorry if I mispelled that), I'll look into it.
Arctic, actually, that feature is quite useful. |
