odd Error 500 problem with Images

I have two xp machines (work&home) running abyss v2.0 with php 4.x. Work computer is fine, but home computer has started a interesting behavior. PHP runs fine in other programs (ie Dreamweaver) & run scripts fine until recently. It will do

Now when I try to load a page, Windows tries to load whatever program associated to it. ie. IrfanView is launched when a *.jpg is on the page.
Images are showing up as error 500, but it's shown in the directory listing if I use http://localhost/phenix/images/.
I am baffled by this behavior.

Obviously, your "Scripting Parameters" are set wrongly and are instructing Abyss Web Server that JPG files are CGI applications/scripts that should be executed instead of being downloaded.

This situation usually happens when you have / as one of the "Script Paths" in "Scripting Parameters". Try removing it.

But for a complete solution of the problem, we recommend that you send to support@aprelium.com your abyss.conf file (do not forget to add a reference to this forum message in the email). Our technical support will give you the instructions to know how to fix your configuration.

In Scripting Parameters there was a / in the Script Paths. I deleted it, and now it loads perfectly. Interesting behavior....Thanks for the tip.

Abyss Web Server relies on the paths in "Script Paths" to know if the a file is a CGI app/script or not. The rule is simple: any file which is inside one of the "Script Paths" or which matches with one of the patterns in "Script Paths" is considered as a CGI app/script.
So if you include / there, you simply tell the server to consider every file as a CGi app/script since all the files in the web site are in the virtual path /.
