Hey ppl
I was just wondering is it possible to set up the internet connection as a service on WIn2k ??
at the moment i have it running in the autostart menu :-/
i have also run it from the regediter under /run
and my finall question after the small barricade of them ;)
is there a possibilty to get the network running quicker, ever since i have updated windows it seems to double the boot time :( SP4 + updates.
Of course i have to update though = blaster etc etc etc ...
Any body have some ideas ??
Prefer an answer to the connection though. |

No one has answered because your question doesn't make sense.
Explain :
What are you using for your internet connection? Dialup, DSL, cable etc.
If DSL or cable, are you using a router, or just a modem?
Do you mean you want your connection to stay permenantly connection?
Do you mean you want to share your connection?
What is it that you are running to connect to the internet? |

I know what he had on mind.
Don't disconnect before computer shut down. On next system start, Windows will automatically connect to the Internet. |

hey sorry if i wasn't clear anough.
When i boot my computer up i will dial through to my DSL connection via Startup.
I was wondering if it is possible to get it started as a service (like aprelium)
e.g Before i log in the connection is already being made.
I apologise for any misunderstandings |

Have a look at the program FireDaemon which will allow you to run any other program as a system service. Be warned though - if you start your DSL connection as a service and you are only using a DSL modem and personal firewall, you may connect to the DSL before the firewall has initialised.

Killavirus,
A few weeks ago, we read an article which explains how to start you DSL (or a dial-up connection) at computer boot time without even having a user logged in which seems to be what you're looking for. This setting is great for people who have a USB DSL modem and that are sharing the connection with other computers on the LAN.
We're still searching for it. _________________ Beta Testing Team
