Anybody here from the UK have Telewest Broadband 1mb package?
I'm getting it installed on Thursday and was wondering if anyone here has it so they can tell me what they think of it, like speed etc?

Perhaps it would be a good idea to ask questions like this before getting it installed since either way, you're stuck with it now ;) For what it's worth, Telewest have pretty good ratings over at ISPReview.co.uk - I'd have preferred DSL myself though... |

Yeah, I've heard many good things about Telewest and decided to go for it! I'm doing the TV, Phone and Internet package.
I was just wondering how good it was for serving mostly, aswell as opinions from poeple that already have it.
Is there much difference then, between DSL and Cable?

In the UK DSL is delivered via your conventional photo line, and as a result is analog. Also several simultaneous connections on the same part of the DSL network can significantly reduce it's speed for each user.
Cable in the UK is delivered via a digital system, and not down your phone line. Cable usually has less problems dealing with multiple connections in one area, because the system usually has more available bandwidth, and is better at delivering the data to the correct user. _________________ Olly |

thats exactly what i have, the download speed is great, but upload is only 128k... which isnt exactly gr8 for a web server.
but i use it for surfing and gaming as well, overall, its great. _________________ http://fnar.sytes.net <<--- Powered by Abyss :D |

for a 1Mb connection from telewest costs £19.99 a month (about 39 us$ a month) in the uk.
the package that richardyork is going for (tv, phone, intenet) costs £30 (about 58 us$ a month) _________________ Anthony R
