|

The message below occurs whether I choose 'Show Console' or 'Browse Website' after right-clicking the tray icon on Win 2000 Pro.
I have checked the /SYTEm32/etc/hosts and 127.0.0.1 is included there.
I have added 127.0.0.1 to my I.E. 'local' site that should be outside the
proxy.....what can I do to get Aprelium to 'see' 127.0.0.1 ? In this case I am
on a corporate intranet as opposed to my home machine where all activity is on the desktop ?

The requested URL could not be retrieved

The following situations are possible causing this:
1. Cannot serve requests pointed to the proxy itself. 2. Using Browser Auto-configuration feature without enable this feature in proxy. 3. Using Browser Auto-configuration feature without download auto-configuration file onto proxy.
Please contact administrator if you have still question. _________________ Principal Consultant, Keane, Inc. |

Can you completely disable the proxy on your machine to check whether this is what is causing problems? If you can't, open a command prompt (start->run->cmd) and type "telnet 127.0.0.1 80" - if this connects, your problem is IE. If it doesn't connect, your problem is with Abyss setup/configuration. |

Telnet says: "Could not open a connection to host on port 80...connection failed"
I have not altered any default Aprelium settings...though I did peruse the
config file....where the defaults seemed appropriate. _________________ Principal Consultant, Keane, Inc. |

I asked Telnet to connect on 80 ...BUT Aprelium was probably not running
(ugh !!)
I made sure it was running....now Telnet says:
"Could not connect to host on port 23"
(I did use "80" in the Telnet command in both cases)

You did remember to use a space and not a : between the ip and the port to connect to? It sounds like you did in the first case but not the second... |
