Hi Everyone,

I am posting this on behalf of TRUSTpunk because I've just been chatting with him on MSN and he seemed very pis**d off!! I was trying to help him and he just went offline on me! (I'm sorry if it was something I said TRUSTpunk, but I don't think it was).

From what I could gather, he has installed RedHat and something went wrong. He now wants to format his hard disk so he can put Windows 98 back on, but can't! He has tried to use fdisk but that failed. TRUSTpunk has helped a lot of people over the past and I think we should all help him on this one, most of us owe it to him! He does a lot for this community and and I am sure that any help with this problem would be much appreciated by him! (I'm not too sure how accurate this information is, but you should get the jist)

P.S.
I hope you didn't mind me posting this TRUSTpunk! All I want to do at the end of the day is help you out, you've helped me out on quite a number of occasions! I will delete this post if you want me to, just let me know! Good Luck

Do you have a MS DOS boot disk?

If you do boot up using this disk, and run the format, and fdisk commands from there.

Format command:
Code:
format <drive>:

eg:
format c:

FDisk command:
Code:
fdisk

the rest should be easy to work out (just read the onscreen instructions).

If this doesn't work you could always put the hard disk on your main computer, and run the windows format commands.

It was nothing you said richard , besides I finally got Redhat to work with this old monitor :)
Im going to give it another shot , its possible I chose the wrong resolution lol. LateR!

Edit: Redhat fails again , I read the requirements for it and it needs at least
400 MHz and I only have 366 MHz and I have no idea what my processor is.

All I know is that I have a Intel Celeron , I completely give up now , I don't
want to keep formating the partition on this new HD especially when I just
tested all the NewB linux distro's any way , I guess Linux hates me. :(

Now can someone please help me to wipe out this Linux from my HD , I want
my windows 98 back , Linux sucks just like I said a while back when I first tried it.

Good News! I got someone to install linux for me at a computer store , I will
be able to pick my machine up on Monday , im getting Mandrake linux. :)

Note: The i386 Linux distros have no effect on my machine , a Linux guy at
the computer store told me its probably the monitor refresh rate that I did
not set correctly when installing Redhat , just wanted to let you guy's know.

As a general idea, 60hz refresh is the standard minimum for most monitors at any resolution.
