Hi. I use dial-up occasionally and I find it can take from between 15 seconds to up to 2 minutes to display a page on the forum because it is so long. It is mainly the topic listing pages that take a while.
Would I be able to ask if you could turn down the number of topics displayed on each page slightly? I did a rough estimate and I see you have about 50. Wouldn't 15 suffice? People don't normally look down the list to post on old topics all that often. (Even on broadband (512Kbps) topic listings can take up to 10 seconds sometimes and it can be fustrating because of the amount of unanswered topics I look at, which can be sometimes over 15 a day depending on how active the forum has been).
Anyone else agree? _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

I've said no as I always access the forum through a 2 Mbps broadband connection, and it loads instantly. It can be changed, but it has no effect on me, so I don't really care. _________________ Olly |

I use a 24 mbit/s connection, and the forum takes about 0.5 - 1 sec to load. |

I agree a faster line will make it faster to load but 512Kbps is still slow and dial-up just becomes pathetic. I just thought it would be an idea for those who are not able to get broadband, use dial-up away from home or just havent entered the age of broadband yet. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

Holy hell...
What contention ratio is that though? If 1:1, you are a blessed man.
EDIT: Works fine here, 512kbps, load time of 1-2 seconds. _________________

i had to vote "This guy's an idiot for suggesting it" because everythings slow on dial-up.
i have only just switched to broadband from dial-up, and have never had one of the pages load as slowly as 2 mins. _________________ Anthony R
