I got a strange problem. When I type in my ip on my computer, it works 100% perfect, however, when I type in my ip on another computer with the program running on mine... it doesnt work at all.
I found that i need to change the port from 80 to something else for it to work at all on someone elses computer, so now they have to type something like:
http://233.231.2.32:20100 (the numbers were made up)
This worked at first, but now it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Do you know if its xp(home)'s fault (I've disabled the firewall by going to control panel, networking, my isps properties, advanced, and deselecting the firewall) Or the fault of my isp (dodo)?
Thanks in advanced if you know. I just want to make something so my friend can send java code to me, and then it automatically compiles and runs on my computer. Thanks again! _________________ "If i'm order to, i will do it"

Your ISP seems to be blocking port 80.
Now, if it works sometimes and sometimes not, this means that your IP is dynamically changing. In this case, the best is to get a free DNS name from dyndns.org for example and use their IP tracking system. More information can be found in this forum by seraching for dyndns. _________________ Beta Testing Team

Your IP address only changes every time you log back on to the internet, right? I meant that sometimes when I log on, and ask my friend to visit my site, it will work. Five minutes later, when he tries to go there again, it stops working. I dont understand whats wrong..
Maybe I've got a program running thats trying to block people from accessing information from my computer that I dont know of. Though I usually try to close all non-system or important programs whenever I first turn on my computer.
Also, I check my IP address whenever I ask my friend to visit my site just in case for some weird and unexplainable reason it would change in the middle of an internet connection.
By the way, thanks for the information, and telling me about that site. _________________ "If i'm order to, i will do it"
