| my friend is on t1 connection with no router and the abyss web server won't work, the ports are open, anyone have a clue? please help, thanks |

does he have a firewall of some kind running? XP has a built in firewall that could be causing a problem. And the port it's running on is the port you are using to connect to it? Have an index page in the htdocs directory?

It is also quite possible that your ISP blocks ports (although with a T1 I doubt it). Change the port in Abyss to something other than 80, and type "http://yourip:theport" into your browser.
