Ok I know there are 1 million questions about this all over.. Can we get them answered in one place. This forum (pbpBB2 not abyss) is so unpredictable. One day it works fine the next I have to configure it to use my external IP for logging in.. now I cant login.. Which seems logical because no loop back on my router.. But why did it work like 2 days ago.. it sound like it shuldnt have .. but it did. What I want to ask you is there any one out there that cannot have loop back because of their router and is hosting these forums.. How do you adminaster the forums if U cant login. Also the mail question.. I would just got to your isp's site and they might have a SMTP posted right on front.. so just copy domain name.. its pretty simple.. Instilation is also easy.. Just move the phpbb file to your htdocs.. then go 2 it.. and it shuld bring up the install file.. type in your info.. hit done.. delet the install and contrib files and your done. Now the problem Im stuck on is this user thing.. What do i do? _________________

Maybe you should get a domain so your IP can map to the domain , that way the forum is always up without you making changes , use no-ip's DUC Client http://www.no-ip.com ok. Note: Get a no-ip domain ! |

D-Link and Netgear routers do not support loopback. The people who use them type in their internal IP instead of their external one.
I talked to D-Link about loopback, and they said that once in a while, you will be able to use loopback--otherwise, it doesn't work.
Also, you can use your ISPs SMTP server for mail if you want. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

Im using a TK domain right now.. but if I got a no IP would that allow loop back or would it recognize my internal for me and my external for others or what would that do? _________________

Nothing you get will allow you to loop back.
However, Fex wrote something quite creative at http://www.aprelium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3806 (page two). It can probably help you. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

In the hosts file of your main machine (10.1.1.21) you add
10.1.1.12 www.yourdomain.com
Now when you type www.yourdomain.com in IE on your main machine, it goes straight to 10.1.1.12 without resolving the domain name via DNS and trying to send traffic out over the router. |

That happens to me also. Clear all your cookies, and it should start working.
Otherwise, if you log in twice, it works. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

I know there are some problems.. there always is.. I only have one tester so I guess you guys could go there and see what you experience so i can fix it..

did i mention that I think I know why everyone says that the Forums worked when they first got it.. but then it breaks. .cause of that cookie domain thing.. I bet that it came blank but it was changed and then the forums messed up.. I dunno.. it needs some looking into.. But for now im leaving mine blank.. _________________

What are you talking about?
To reference an image in phpBB, you use [img]http://path.to/the/image.gif[/img].

Oh sorry, I forgot I had to turn BBCode off when I made that post. Anyway, you put a URL around it, like this:
