hi
i just install abyss for 1 month but it refuse to use port 80, it said "The port is already used by another application or the access to it is denied"
but i don't what using it at that time.
i using winxp pro / i also installed php, mysql, ftp server and bittorrent tracker. but ftp use 21 and bt tracker use 6969 so i dont know what using 80. any help?
also.. is that possible to has virtual directory?
i mean if my root is g:/webserver/ and htdocs is g:/webserver/htdocs/
and i want to have http://mine.com/mp3/
while mp3 folder locate at h:/mp3/
is that possible? |

one more thing..
is there any affect to my surfing activity if i set abyss to use port 80? since some ppl avoid to use 80 for webserver. |

Reasons to avoid it :
1) If your ISP has blocked you from using it ( duh! :P )
2) If your site is not intended for public viewing, changing the port will prevent the casual browser stumbling across it.
3) If your ISPs ToS forbid running webservers, changing the port from port 80 will avoid basic checks by the ISP which could lead to the suspension of your account. For example BTO and NTL scan their ranges for open mail servers on port 25.
4) You have ad blocking software which redirects IPs to localhost. It will fill your access log with garbage and make your browsing sessions slightly odd as your website pops up in the middle of normal pages instead of banner adverts.
