I setup Abyss on my spare pc the other day and made a website and forwarded the necessary port from my router to my machine. That pc has zonealarm pro running on it so I gave the necessary permissions and had several people test my site and it works great...

until I reboot, then the site is unavailable to the public, but IS available on my lan...

I messed around abit but could find nothing wrong with my configuration, so I simply stopped abyss in the 'abyss control panel' and restarted it and whoala it's available to the public again..

I'm thinking this has something to do with abyss starting before zonealarm pro?? If I understand it correctly, nothing can access the internet before zonealarm pro starts up, so if abyss starts before ZAP, it's obviously not allowed to reach out. So as soon as I restart the abyss after everything is up and running it serves the public again...

Can anyone confirm or figure out what's wrong?

Thanks! and please test my site now for me and see if it's up still!! thanks again

yeah that was one of the first things I checked... I think the problem is that abyss tries to startup before zonealarm at reboot and then when zonealarm starts it doesnt permit abyss to access the internet...

Like I say, after I reboot I have to go into the abyss control panel and stop/restart the server before it's visible to the internet again... I rebooted last night before going to bed (and didnt restart the server after the reboot) and it wasnt available to anyone during the night, then I restarted abyss and it was visible again...

Ok, just to clarify.. My homepage works, that's not the issue..

The problem happens when I reboot my pc that's running abyss. Abyss is set to start automatically, after rebooting my site wont be available to anyone on the internet. The only way to make it available (afer a reboot) is to go and restart the server manually... That's the problem..

Thanks for testing my site though!! mucho appreciado! ;)

Techno_Mage,

It seems like this is a problem with ZA configuration. Can't you set it to take into account programs that are already running? If not, you can disable the autostart feature of Abyss and then add it to your Startup group (in Start > Programs.) By doing so, it will start after ZA.
