i live in a large apartment complex. My room comes with ethernet access and i hooked up my microsoft wireless router to it for my laptop. I tried to set up a web sever and an ftp server. Nothing seems to work. I am running the Virtual DMZ, and i also tried with it off.
Should i be using the ip address my router is giving me or the one givern to my ethernet connection in my room by my aprtment complex?

The one given to your room, assuming it's a public IP. If you're in an apartment on ethernet, it's quite likely you've been given a private IP on a NAT'd connection and will be unable to run your server.
What is the IP / subnet mask given to your ethernet connection ? |

This really depend. If it a LAN from your whole apartment, you will need to find the public IP that it is using. You will need to use this:
http://www.aprelium.com/ip/ [courtesy of Aprelium]
If it a LAN, check if your IP you are currently using will change [dynamic / DHCP]. You will need to contact your IT from that apartment to forward the specific port to your router then forward again from your router to your Abyss box.
If are set to your own IP from a ISP, your problem just narrow down a bit. You will need to just set the specific port your Abyss is listen to and forward that PORT from your router to your Abyss box.
