I want to download a java program to my Motorola T720 phone but get the subject error. I added the following settings: for jad files "text/vnd.sun.j2me.app-descriptor" and for jar files "application/java-archive"

Any thoughts?

These MIME types are correct. Other users already contacted us and said they are using these settings to download Java games on their mobiles from their Abyss Web Server hosted sites.

After researching HTTP 406 errors at Google, it appears to me that web servers return the 406 response. Is the Abyss web server sending the 406 response, or is it my service provider? And if it is the AByss web server, what in particular would cause this response?

Abyss Web Server never returns error 406 (except when a script asks it to do so, which isn't the case here). So it may be your service provider or a proxy between your server and your mobile that generated this error.
