tried testing abyss server with default page via the net today and it didnt work why?
the hostname seemed correct it coresponded to the right ip address
does xp stop it in someway or can it be my firewall zonealarm?
127.0.0.1 works fine offline.
any ideas?

Please read the answer to the second question in http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/faq.html (XP has an integrated firewall and Zonealarm may need some configuration to allow incoming connections to your server).

thanks aprelium it was me firewall config ...simple tasks ask for simple measures
:wink:
noing the hostname and ip address is all you need once the firewall is configured :lol:
simple ip tracker scripts will give the answer ....the only thing is though when you disconnect you have to find the hostname again aswell as the ip
doesnt matter at least you can test your site online though for aslong as stay on that is :twisted:
