I've been using Abyss web server currently on a test machine running 98SE to run a php based forum with mySQL and all works fine. I'm planning to make my final server with WinXP Pro and also wanted to use the Gallery software to display pictures. Thier website is http://gallery.menalto.com/index.php .

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm curious to find out if anyone has succesfully used that program with Abyss and WinXP. I've read the requirements for it and am abit unsure if it will or wont work. The NetPBM program has me a little confused as well. Theres like 3 different version available for the Windows platform, so I'm unsure which to use either.

Well, it appears the software will not work properly in a Win32 system using the dll versions of php. The readme files says that certain commands will not work because of the win32 php, and its correct. The software will appear to install with some minor issues, but once running and accessed, will have numerous errors popup. Oh well. I really wanted to have a Gallery type software on my server. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Well I did'nt know any of that since I'm a novice at running anything server-wize. I was able to get Gallery working on my XP pro system running Abyss server. I can run it as a stand alone and/or within PHP-Nuke. They only problem I having is that it works fine localy but when I go to the URL it cant find any images (as though the directory is empty). I doubt it is the software but just a newbie error on my part. This is the 1st time I have every messed with Abyss, PHP, MySQL, etc. SO call it dumb luck that I got it working half way.
So I say try it. And then maybe tell me how you got it to work 100%
