It's installed on 127.0.0.1 so works ok over the lan, by entering the pc "name" I put a index file inthere with links to the net and it works fine like that ..

however id like to use it over the internet .. want to run my website on my own pc you see :D ... so at the moment I can connect to my router with a browser (i get the routers index file after entering password)

so how do I get abyss to be installed on my router address xxx.xx.xx.147 ? instead of the local 127 address? and get it to connect through without the need for entering a pass word? (allowing port 80 might get around the password issue I suppose)

but I'd still need to be connected to abyss webserver when entering the router address in the browser .. how to?

Cheers

I have a linksys guide here for installing a web server to work with linksys

http://www.offspringvideos.com/router/

I don't think it matters what router you have , this guide should still work for you but please check with your ISP and see if your allowed to set up a Static IP Address, I setup a static IP for a friend and his ISP charged him $200 :D

Your 127.0.0.1 is your internal IP of your PC. When you enter that local PC IP in your browser URL to get access the same way as right click on Abyss icon from the system tray.
The next level IP (ie 192.168.xxx.xxx) is your LAN where other PC you may have in your LAN then come the public IP (ie for Aprelium or their hostsite is 217.174.192.131).
If you can view your webpage from 127.0.0.1 (localhost), then you can try the next step by using your LAN where you have another PC from your network and see if you still can see that page too. If you can see it, then next step is to try to see from the outside. Before you can do that, make sure your Router / Gateway is pointing Port 80 (default) to your Abyss box. If you do not have one or your Abyss Box is connecting directly then you just need to ask your friend or use a dial-up connection to your public IP. To find out what your current public IP you are using now, click this link from Aprelium >> http://www.aprelium.com/ip/ <<.
If you have a router / gateway, then set your Router / Gateway to port 80 and the IP of your LAN where Abyss box is sitting on.
If your router have loopback support, you can enter your public IP from another LAN PC in your network and see if your webpage show up.

Note:
If you have a Router like Linksys for example, just goto Linksys configuration > Advanced > Port Forwarding and set to Port 80. Enter the LAN IP where Abyss is located (ie 192.168.xxx.xxx like 1.100). But if you have other brand, just use the general concept from above. The key is to open port 80 and tell the your Router where the Abyss is located so it will forward that port 80 to your LAN IP. I assume you did not change the Abyss default setting of port 80 in the console but if you did, just set to whatever port you have change to match the Router and your Abyss setting.

What setup do you have? Do you have a Router / Gateway? Please include your network setup so I can get an idea. Do you have the same setup as ROAMER? Anyway, if you have something in between your LAN and outside world, you need to configure your port so it will pass from outside to your LAN (inside). One of those setting is to have PORT 80 open and forward it to your LAN IP of where Abyss is located. Assume you did not change the default port of Abyss (port 80). Then goto check what public IP you on by using this http://www.aprelium.com/ip/ to check. That should be it.

Note:
I noticing more and more of ISP is preventing some of your guy from hosting a website. Please check your ISP if they block anything.
