vanitas,

You should install Abyss Web Server as a normal user for the first time (do not use your root account). Run it from that user account so that it generates the default configuration file and sets permissions the right way.

Next you can run it as a root to be able to access ports < 1024.

Many thanks for your answer, but abyssws won't start anyway. I followed all the hints, but nothing happened. I tryed with the default httpd (apache, I won't use it) and all it's ok; I'm also trying with Archlinux and abyssws starts very well... The problem is only with "slack-abyss".

Hi,
the Linux Kernel version is 2.6.17.13 (huge.s) and GLibc 2.3.6.
But I have just tryed with the new kernel 2.6.21.1 (huge.s) and the same GLibc 2.3.6 and abyssws starts with absolutly no problem. Many thanks!

Excuse me,
I missed an important information: in the precedent post I'm referring to Abyss X1 2.4!

vanitas,

Thank you for the detailed reply. We'll try to see why there was a problem with that particular kernel.
