|
|
For some reason it takes forever for anyone to ftp to me.
It takes like 30 seconds, whereas other ftp servers log you on instantly.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
Also my dad has a problem.
He is on a mac osx and can never add files to ftp servers. It always says cannot move file because the server cannot be modified.
Isn't that what ftp is all about? File transfer protocol?
For my server, his account has all shared folder settings enabled and everything. But no difference.
Could it be that he has to open one of his ports? Should he turn off the firewall that comes with mac osx?
If you have any ideas let me know.
Thanks so much. |

The speed issue could just be your connection speed being a little on the low side. Not sure about the transfer issue. Perhaps your Dad could try a different FTP client? _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

The speed isn't an issue anymore. I forgot that I was running Utorrent in the backround -.-
Anyway I'm sending him Fetch which is supposed to be a great ftp client for mac.
I'll post again after i've tested. |

I don't know of any Mac FTP clients, but I can tell you exactly why he can't upload files without one: Mac OSX's built-in application for accessing fileservers was only designed for downloads. I found this out when I tried to upload a *.psd I wanted to finish at home for a computer graphics class I was taking. Big pain-in-the-rear, if you ask me. -_- |

I just asked my dad. And there was one server that allowed him to upload.
I don't know why that is but it is in fact possible. |
