Does anyone know whose IP this is? http://67.30.130.180 After putting it into my browser it comes up with an apache site.

EDIT: 207.46.98.39 is also doing this now too.
EDIT2: 207.46.98.39 is msnbot.msn.com which is probably browsing my site for the search database. Still dont know what the first one is though.

This is annoying me because every 30 minutes my server is access from this IP at exactly the same time every 30 minutes. My stats log shows this:

This is just a few from the last few hours but every 30 mins this happens.

This IP is now blocked from my server until I know why and who it is doing this. It been happening since I started this log yesterday morning and no doubt before that too.

I traced the IP to Beverly Hills, California... that's about all I can do..

Here is the tracking page:

http://visualtracking.symantec.com/vt_main.asp?productid=nis2004&langid=ie&venid=sym&go=67.30.130.180

It is a company.... never heard of it...

Thanks p3, their IP is now blocked from my server anyway. They'll complain eventually!

I think i know what that IP is 67.30.130.180:

I use www.siteuptime.com to check my site uptime and I think it may be their server checking my site every 30 minutes.

TRUSTpunk, I know you use this so can you check for this IP in your log too?

I checked my log for the Monitored website which is php4Abyss.co.uk and
couldn't find any matches that relate to that IP Address , im not sure who
is doing that but it could be a spamming bot ready to catch e-mails.

If you click the link you get a 'successful apache install' page. p3 sent me a screenshot and it links to www.co-location.com. MonkeyNation said it was a leased rack from co-location.com in beverley hills.

Not sure if I should contact the owner and see if they can shut it down.

This is nearly a year ago so why bring it back up? Bringing up old posts can be annoying so I suggest not doing it.

The thread may be old but pkSML had some nice info to add which is NEW. Also, what may be old to you could be new to others. What may be annoying to you can also be helpful to others.

So please stop complaining about the bumping of old threads. Your complaints annoy me.

You annoy me but I try not to show it. Other memebers long-term members would also have said not to bump the thread and suggest they make a new one instead.

The problem with making a new thread out of an old topic is that other forum members would reprove the thread starter for not doing a search first prior to "restarting" the thread. Besides, confining related topics on a single thread makes for a more efficient board, in my opinion.

For the record, you, per se, don't annoy me, but your complaints do. :D

If people read the forum rules, they probably wouldnt have to reply to an old topic or even start a new one, but people don't.

Ditto. I hate arguments or complaints unless they are necessary.

Im going to suggest we leave this topic alone and from now on we just start new topics (after searching of course) :-)

So, just how old must a thread be before it's considered unacceptable to bump?

There is no "written" rule on this forum. But, in general, threads that are over
6 months old should be left alone, unless it's a sticky. Then, it doesn't matter. ;)

But, there is nothing wrong with bumping an old thread if there is a legitimate
and useful contribution to that thread. It should be handled on a case-by-case
situation whether or not it's legitimate.

As you said, loloyd, it is better to add to an existing thread rather than saturate
this forum with multiple posts with the same topic. That's what's really "annoying".

I am definitely going off-topic here (from the original thread topic) but I found some small problems with the rules on this board and its applicability in this instance. Firstly, as I just checked, the title to the rules stated:
Quote:
Forum Rules [READ THIS IF YOU ARE A NEW USER]
Now, considering myself to be not a new user anymore, I wouldn't be obliged to review it. But that's having a philosophical attitude, and some people may be arrogant enough to fall under this category. Secondly, looking at pkSML's posting closely, it wouldn't fall under the category of him having a problem. In fact, he's offering info that might be useful to other forum readers. The rules of this board mostly cater to those who have questions and would want to solve their problems by posting a thread (Forum Rules point numbers 1, 2, 3, 7, 8 and 9). Neither did pkSML break rule point numbers 4, 5 (on spamming) and 6. Ergo, pkSML's post action is perfectly acceptable under this board's forum rules.

Couldn't have said it better.

It's good to be reminded that this thread falls under the Off Topic Discussions forum. :-D

You should know the rules are there to help make the forum a better place.

Lets not let this turn into another flame war.
