I want to use php 4 with abyss. I got it loaded and after screwing round for 5 hours with phpmyadmin I goit it running. Oh I cheated. I just copied the phpmyadmin and mysql folders out of my old xampp server lOL!!

Anyway it says mbwrite and mysql dll is not loaded in phpmyadmin. Where can I d/l these and what do I put in the php ini file?

Be sure to install PHP5 exactly as I say in the tutorial.

Thats the thing....I dont want to use php 5. Phpbb forums seem to have problems with php 5 Im told and have experienced. There is reports all over the place bout. Phpbb is too old for php5....

The phpBB development team updated their code for PHP5. It's safe to use!

Yes.. Every time I run phpbb I get a socket error message in ACP. Im sure it is enabled via php.inf. I also thought it might be flashchat since it uses its own socket server, but nope same thing. I turned off flashchat socket server and get the same message. This is why I wanted to go back to php 4
