Are you able to chenge the wording when someone registers ?
When you register it says
"Your account has been created. However, this forum requires account activation. An activation key has been sent to the e-mail address you provided. Please check your e-mail for further information"
is there a way to add words to this ?

Search through the files that registers people. Use find in notepad and see if you can edit it.
