wayne, welcome to the forums. :)

Partitioning your HD is overkill, IMO.
Setting up an FTP server and set user limits would be much easier.

Although I didn't start this... I'm wondering - What if your FTP Server doesn't support upload limitations???

Then how about, if you know your FTP server doesn't support limits and refuse to change it, you don't get to use limits?

The only alternative is an extreme amount of work using NTFS and disk quotas, assuming you're running under Windows. If you're going to say that you're using FAT32 and don't want to change, don't even bother replying. If you refuse to use a solution that is offered, research your own answer.

I believe FTP is the only realistic easy way of accomplishing this. Im sure FileZilla has a similar feature....?

FileZilla Server Download: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=21558&package_id=21737&release_id=345260

Yes - I'm running under Windows...

Any good FTP Servers that support file limits?

No, that FTP server does cost, I used to use it myself before I discovered CerberusFTP. Shame Cerberus doesnt allow quotas though :-(

I use partitioning myself but as Moxxnixx said, its overkill unless you have the software or can even be bothered to do it.

I'd take the FTP server route.

GuildFTP is free and supports folder limits. DynuFTP server has a great feature set and is also free, but is unfortunately bundled with a webserver - if you disable that, it would also be a good choice.

Note that a lot of servers (GuildFTP included) will actually check the upload limit when a file upload is complete, so if you are low on disk space, be careful on this front.

For example, if you set a 10mb limit and a user has 7mb of files, they can upload a 5mb file but after uploading this, they will be unable to upload anything else, since they are now over the 10mb limit.
