Hello

I just wanted to ask a few questions before I dl this program. I want to make sure that some things are OK.

I saw Abyss on Download.com and it looked good by the user reviews, but this review kinda is keeping me from DLing the program:

Quote:
Pros: The server is easy to install and configure. It takes little to no time at all.
Cons: It requires an application called Active HTML in order to run the ASP architecture. This is a shareware that requires purchase after 45 days. It does not cost much but, if you are looking for a free alternative to IIS or Personal Web Server, this is not it.

Here is the URL: http://www.download.com/Abyss-Web-Server/3640-2165_4-10283992.html

Also, the basic version is "free", right? Has anyone experienced any spyware issues by DLing this program?

Thanks,

I have been using this software for about two years , as stated on the home
page , this software does not invade your privacy in any way , I wrote a little
hacking guide for the ActiveHTML Trial to add another 45 day trial.

Please read the following topic

P.S. The Free version isn't limited in anyway , although some features are
only available in the Pro version such as Virtual Hosting but the free is just
as good as the Professional , their is a multiple hosting script for the free.

Abyss Web Server primary task is serving web pages, and it does this without any problem. But it can work with other software to make more complex tasks. For example, to have dynamic pages, it can work with PHP, Perl or other scripting languages. ASP is one of these languages and its interpreter is called ActiveHTML.

What this message is saying is that ActiveHTML (which is not made by us, but can be plugged to our software) is not a free product. So if you need ASP support, you'll have to buy a license from SeliSoft.

Most other scripting languages such as PHP, Perl, Ruby, and Python that are supported by Abyss Web Server are free. So unless you need ASP support, you can ignore this ActiveHTML issue.

There is no spyware or malware in our software.
