I just had a few questions regarding abyss.
I was wondering, first, how secure is abyss?
Could I get my computer hacked?
Also, I was wondering, how much traffic can abyss handle? I was thinking of hosting a clan site, which might get quite a bit of traffic. I just don't want my computer to crash or something if I get too much traffic.
Thanks. |

Abyss is rock solid server , when I say rock solid , I mean it. Abyss was built
from the ground up unlike Apache which is a patched up NCSA HTTP Server.
I've been using this product for about 2 years now and its rock solid.

So, my computer shouldn't lag too much or anything? By the way, thanks for the answer. |

Your computer should be running great on Abyss Web Server but it will get slow
if your planning on hosting big files and thats not because of Abyss Web Server.
ISP's Like to limit our bandwidth so I suggest hosting small stuff. Also Abyss
is the only server out there with so many features that uses little memory. :-)

I'm pretty sure I don't have a bandwidth limit, but I don't think I'd have many files over 1-2 mb anyway, so I think I'll be okay. I basically want it for a forum, and maybe a site.
Thanks again, TRUSTpunk |

Abyss Web Server scales well even with very high traffic. We have tested it on low end machines and it served without any problem 300 hits/seconds during 24 hours.
Abyss Web Server is also protected against crashes. It never crashes but if this happens, it will restart it self immediately (see http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/features.html ).
The current site is hosted on Abyss Web Server, serves millions of hits per month, and it does not need more than 1%-5% of the processor time (a Sempron 2200) to do its job. _________________ Support Team

Ahem, let me just state some facts.
Abyss Web Server itself is very unlikely to get hacked.
It can, on the other hand, help make you a target.
It has more to do with whether you're going to be flashing your IP, or even your domain name in people's faces. |

What Arctic is trying to say is that your taking a risk of being hacked if you
use any type of Web Server but I wouldn't recommend an unsecure server
to you if I didn't know it was a secure. Abyss Web Server is secure.
Don't let other people tell you that its not. lateR! |

I have a router anyway, I just have a few ports unblocked for abyss and a few online games. I should be okay.
I'd get a sub-domain at no-ip or somewhere like that anyway, so it hides my ip.
Thanks everyone. |

I've run Abyss Webserver for about 1 year now, and I've never had any problems with it. I'm hosting a lot of websites, and my server serves over 20 000 files/day. |
