I have installed Abyss correctly. And i had a small html page and copied it under program files Abyss directory htdocs. And looked http://127.0.0.1 My web page seems.Everything was wonderfull till here. And looked my ip from http://aprelium.com/ip . It is 195.175.37.70 but it seems 81.215.162.218 in http://www.whatismyip.com and 81.xx changing when i connect again. I have zoom x4 modem. Then i made the portforwarding as explained in http://www.portforward.com to 195.175.37.70 and my port is 80. Then i tried to see in explorer. I entered http://195.175.37.70 only a white blank page. I tried enter from my friend computer but same. What is wrong.

195.175.37.70 is an ISP proxy. You should have used the 81.xxx address that changed when you reconnected. Sounds like you also set up your port forwarding wrong.

You should forward port 80 to your *internal* LAN IP, not the IP of your router.

This is the LAN IP of your PC. You will need to login to your router/modem and set up the port forwarding to go to 10.0.0.8

If your router password prompt appears when you type the IP from whatismyip.com it means your router does not support loopback. This means that you will not be able to access your own site using the IP from whatismyip.com, but once you have set up port forwarding this is the IP others should use.

To access your own site you must use 10.0.0.8 or 127.0.0.1, not 81.215.161.94.

If your IP keeps changing when you visit whatismyip.com you should look at getting a free hostname from either dyndns.org or no-ip.com - it will make life a lot easier for anyone trying to visit your site.

But I give my friend the ip that i taked from http://whatismyip.com 81.215.160.23(it's always changing in a new internet connection). They try connecting but false. And they try http://10.0.0.8 but false and they try the ip that i taked from http://aprelium.com/ip 195.175.37.70 but false. What is the ip number that my friends will enter their browser? Thanks

Your IP changes all the time. So the two IPs you got were your IPs at the time when you checked http://aprelium.com/ip or http://whatismyip.com.
It's better to register to a free DNS service such as no-ip.com or dyndns.org so that you have a stable domain address without paying attention to IP changes.

If your friend still cannot see the page, try using another port (other than 80). Some ISPs block port 80.

By the way, you can see your page from your computer by browsing your site remotely from a proxy service such as http://www.proxify.com . It will connect from the outside to your computer and send you back the pages it get. This saves some time and doesn't require your friend's help.

I have finished everything in two days.Because i was a newbie. Now i am a mid-prof. I want to explain newbies how is it possible to make right setup.

1-Setup Abyss Web Server
After install abyss web server I thought everything finished :) But it was starting. I typed username and password for login. And then we see console. What was there in console?Server configuration, status, statics, help(i read and read and read :)and so. First i clicked server configuration. There was a server root path, document path and port number.

Root path: Base path of web server.

Document Path:The place of where you must copy files of your web site. All images ,web pages and index.html .

Port number: The default is 80. But i learned it was better to enter anything other than 80. Now i entered 850(only a number!,it's important what does a port) You can see port list from http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/app_port_list.htm

There was advanced button. What was it? I understand we don't need advanced settings changes at beginning. Then ok. I see web server icon waiting on my tray and running.

Let's open a browser and first try of web server. http://127.0.0.1:port , ex:http://127.0.0.1:80 or http://127.0.0.1:850
We see aprelium index.html page or our web page if we placed files in documents root.
Everything is ok till here then go 2 else read 1 :)

2- Port forwarding,uuh
What was portforwarding i was reading everywhere in forum? Maybe i will not give a real meaning. We need it because our modem doesn't want to give any access to our computer. But we want, our computer will be a server. So there must be a port for access. We write it in Abyys console! Ok,but we have to enter it in modem settings. AlwaysWe see portforward option at virtual server settings. You can look here for your modem settings.
http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm

But there is an ip problem that we always see. Which ip at portforwarding we need to enter? Go dos command prompt and write, ipconfig ,
You will see some numbers results. At the beginning i was really mad with this. Take the first number at result. For me it was 10.0.0.8 And it wants me to enter public start ,end and privete port number.what was port number? We know from console. Write everywhere same port number that you see at Abyss console ex:850. Don't forget doing the instrutions you read from the page of your modem at portforward.com ,so don't forget saving. :)

Let's open a browser and first try of web server. http://10.0.0.8:port , ex:http://10.0.0.8:80 or my port http://10.0.0.8:850
We see aprelium index.html page or our web page if we placed files in documents root.

Everything is ok till here then go 3 else read 2 or 1 and 2 :)

3-Does everybody see your web page at web?
I asked times and times. Then i asked to my friend do u see my page. But how this is possible. Go http://whatismyip.com Read the ip ex:81.215.161.94 for me, but my ip was changing all the time when i connect net again. This ip is the ip that you will give your friends to enter your web page. How? http://81.215.161.94:port
ex http://81.215.161.94:850 , But if you try your browser this ip you can not see anything. If you enter only ip ex: http://81.215.161.94 then your modem will ask you a username and password because this is a way of login modem settings. :) There is a way to see your web page from your computer. You want to know whether page opening. Go http://www.proxify.com and enter your web page address example: http://81.215.161.94:850 if you see this everything is ok. OK

You can go on reading for what did i do that i mustn't.

I have tried more times http://aprelium.com/ip to see my ip,195.175.37.70. ıt shows but i didn't use it anywhere.
It's not possible your friends see web page from http://127.0.0.1:port from their computers and not possible http://10.0.08:port or not possible http://195.175.37.70:port

Thanks for everything to all members :)

Because such a service would require an important investement in network bandwidth and two or more redundant DNS servers in different data-centers to provide a descent service.

aprelium, i guess bandwidth is the question.....i guess if you have 12 gig up and down.....that isnt a problem over a monthly period....but to some it might be....(damn net hogs) ...having a basic non business site shouldnt attract to much attention.....but this is the problem how much attention does one seek?

also these days some people have more than one puter! but then again why not host one ya self and the other from a web hosting provider?

depolog, are you calling me a newbie?

ips come in to flavours dynamic or static.....

to save you probs ask your isp to give you a static ip address if you dont like dynamic.....i dont mind dynamic to be honest ....stops the hackers from zooming on your ip!
