|
|
I have visited a few links here, of people running Abyss. Seems a lot of them are dead though. I am tending to see a lag when looking up a site. Am wondering if it is a bandwidth problem with the server I am trying to reach or if Abyss is slow to render?
Someone certainly pipe up and tell me why I would want to switch from Thttpd. :)
Would like to see some examples of people using the 'script' for vhosting. I read a little of it and need to be a little clearer on it. |

Dude , you need to like quit asking questions about Abyss , the reason why
most of the links are dead is because they probably stopped hosting their
websites , if you want to find out more about Abyss , check out my website.

But Dude....you see, I am not your typical computer user, nor am I a Windows user.
I wont settle for sloppyness, insecurity, poor performance and so on. Before I go and switch my server over, I like to know the finer details involved.
That being said, I am not accusing Abyss of this, just trying to get feedback on it before I even consider the switch.
So....point me to some links using Abyss. I have been to your site and it is fine. Like I stated before though, it resolves quite slowy. I am hoping that is because you are on slow bandwidth. |

When I can get a beta for BSD, I might put a little more effort into it. :) |

You try and find a server that will consume minimal resources.
The code for this server is what I call "Tight", not because theirs so little, because theirs so much in such a little packet. |

What I am using now consumes a little less than Abyss. I like the features the new beta is coming out with though.....,if it makes it to FreeBSD stages. |

If we understand well, your question is "when are you going to made the 2.0 Beta for FreeBSD available?" :-)
The answer is very soon. Please contact beta@aprelium.com to be notified as soon as it is ready. FYI, there is no problem with FreeBSD as platform, we were just too lazy to release it immediatly (Abyss FreeBSD users community is very small right now so we tend to favor more "popular" platforms.)
By the way, most of the people you have visited are using DSL, and the lag you experience is caused by the network they're on and not by the server. Abyss does all its best to serve data at the highest speed, but if your network is slow, it cannot make miracles :-) _________________ Beta Testing Team

I shutter to hear you say that!
Well, I will watch and see what happens. And no, my network is just fine thanks. *;o) |
