|

I read in the newspaper the other day that the soon-to-be-released service pack for XP will automatically turn on the firewall in XP, which brings up a few questions, if someone has the time:
1) Given that I run ZoneAlarm Pro and the built-in firewall in my Linksys wireless router (my Abyss-serving PC is a direct-connect to it, while two other PCs in the house are wirelessly connected for surfing), is there any reason to have the XP turned on (which I'm pretty sure is off now) after the service pack is installed?
2) If I ever explicitly turned off the XP firewall, it's been years ago. Anyone remember off-hand the steps involved in turning it off?
3) If the XP firewall should stay on for some reason, is it an easy thing to configure to all port 80 access?
4) Anything else you think I should know about all this?
Thanks,
Bill |

Goto Control Panel, Then Network Connections, click on your connection, a box will pop up, goto properties, then goto the advanced tab, then click that box, and bam, no xp firewall. |
