With the Abyss server I have got remote control over te server-configuration. My question is, can I replace the contents of the site from a remote machine, or do I have to change it at the physical web-server? |

If you want to edit the files on your site remotely, you will need to either install some kind of upload script, or an FTP server. For increased flexibility and security I'd personally recommend the FTP route.
Search the forum for others recommendations. |

You'd have to be pretty stupid to install any kind of remote admin software offered to you as a direct link from someone who you have no reason to trusts website. Masa, if it's useful commercial software and not a RAT/backdoor, provide a link to the correct website, not to a random zip on your own site. The link is dead anyway.
Ignore him, installing any kind of remote admin software that provides full access to your machine is not necessary at all to allow easy site updates. He is right however in saying it is a security risk. It's certainly not something I'd leave running without much stronger encryption and IP control than most provide by default. |

Thanks for your answers!
I'm trying a ftp- server with IP-adress allow and deny possibilities, so I should be the only one able to get in.
Again thanks! |
